Rai Bahadur Gulabchand (Johnny Walker) is a married man dissipating his life in drinking, gambling and philandering. One night, drunk, he goes to sleep with the photographs of his numerous girlfriends. He starts to dream and this dream forms most of the film. In the dream his otherwise virtuous and devoted wife (Meena Shorey) decides to retaliate to show that she too could be like him. She takes on a lover, Dilip (Om Prakash), receives love letters from him, is nonchalant when Gulabchand opens them and even romances Dilip in her house in Gulabchand’s presence! Finally she decides to marry Dilip even as Gulabchand frantically tries to stop her. Gulabchand wakes up at this point to find his wife the same religious and devoted woman she is and remembering his nightmare, he takes a vow to reform.
